Emergency Dental Services We Offer

There are several different kinds of emergency services we provide. You might have a toothache that won't go away, or you might have a chipped tooth. No matter what the issue is, Dr. Kumar and his team can offer you expert service to restore your dental health.

The services we offer include:

  • Toothache relief. Many patients we've seen over the years have ignored the signs of a toothache, which has led to more complex and difficult issues. This is because a toothache is typically the result of a larger dental problem that needs to be addressed. Over-the-counter medications might relieve some of the pain, but they are not a permanent solution. For a permanent solution, come into our office, and we will find the root cause of the toothache and provide relief.
  • Jaw swelling reduction. Dental health doesn't just involve the teeth and gums. It also includes the jawbone and surrounding tissue, which are both key elements in supporting your teeth. However, if you notice swelling in the jaw, this might mean it is infected. This infection can spread throughout the bone and into neighboring tissue. It is crucial that you identify and treat this infection if you notice it, which we can help you do.
  • Gum pain. Dr. Kumar can also treat gum pain. Gum pain is usually a sign that there is an issue in the deeper tissue of the gums. We can help provide relief and treat the cause of the pain.
  • Root canals. This procedure is useful in saving teeth that are damaged or decayed. For many patients, the tooth in question previously needed a crown or filling. Root canals attempt to restore the connection between the root in the bone to your tooth, which relieves the pain and preserves the tooth. This procedure also eliminates the need for an extraction.
  • Avulsed and damaged tooth care. Also known as a “knockout,” this scenario usually happens when an accident like a sports injury or a car accident causes a tooth to get knocked out of your mouth. When this happens, you should seek treatment as soon as you can so that a dentist can examine the socket for further damage. In some cases, the avulsed tooth can be saved and restored. Other dental damage that can occur are chips, cracks, and breaks. No situation is the same, and all require a professional to assess your situation and schedule a treatment plan.
  • Extractions. If one or more of your teeth are severely damaged or decayed, an infection can spread throughout your mouth. Extracting the teeth in question might be your best option to prevent this from happening. This allows your teeth to be protected and free of pain.
  • Filling and crown repair. Fillings and crowns protect teeth that have previously needed dental work. While these are designed to fit your teeth, sometimes they can become loose and fall out. If this happens, it's important to have them repaired or replaced as soon as you can.

Avoiding Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies can cause a lot of pain and stress. Not every emergency can be avoided, but some can be prevented. This starts at home by setting a regular schedule of brushing and flossing to protect your teeth and gums.

Also, it is recommended to schedule regular six-month appointments with us at Emergency Dentist of Austin. This is to ensure our staff can provide the cleaning services they need and maintain your oral health. Dr. Kumar can also catch minor issues from becoming major issues.
